Lynne Binion wins Employee Award

Our very own Lynne Binion from the Glen Waverley Private Nursing Home won the Employee Award in the 2007 Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) Awards for Excellence.

The award recognises the very special people working in aged care whose commitment and passion for their work shines through. Lynne is a great example, Glen Waverley Private Nursing Home CEO Shirley Frigo says.

"Lynne has worked at Glen Waverley since 1996. Her roles include coordination of Nutrition and Hydration, and our Education Program. Lynne is uncompromising in delivering only the best care so far as her residents are concerned and she is exceptionally attentive to detail - but her involvement goes much further. She is prepared, for instance, to sacrifice some of her days off to invest in taking residents on outings, and to funerals and memorial services," Shirley said.

"There is no doubt that the residents at Glen Waverley Private Nursing Home have a much improved quality of life as a consequence of Lynne. Her work here is more than a job. To Lynne, it is a lifestyle - an all encompassing lifestyle of caring and giving."

As one of the 2007 judges, the Right Honorable Sir Ninian Stephen, said, "We are fortunate indeed to have in our community so many people dedicated to doing good and doing it so effectively."

Lynne has overcome many personal trials to achieve and maintain her dream of nursing. It is perhaps a consequence of these trials in life that Lynne has fine tuned her heart to the needs of others. She has excelled in care provision and her commitment and dedication is second to none. Lynne is often asked to mentor new staff and students because it is recognised tht she will be an inspiration to them and always epitomises best practice.

Our congratulations go out to Lynne and we thank her for ongoing commitment to our team and our residents.
